Memory: Your hands have already been dirtied [ch58-59] (Significant Negative)
Game: Calibration day with the Maiden
Day: 117
Pages 26-41 and 6-19
What it is:
-Armin is driving a wagon the squad is using to trail after a funeral carriage that's got Eren and Historia in it
-Sasha claims to hear gunfire getting closer, but Jean doubts it
-Suddenly things get chaotic as fuck - Levi zips in on 3DMG, followed by Military Police using weird gear with guns equipped
-Levi cuts one of the MPs apart and jumps on the wagon, ordering Armin to get them away - the MP know where they are and have already killed the other scouts Levi was with
-The MP swoop in with their guns
-Jean is horrified at the prospect of having to kill other humans
-A woman drops in, pointing her gun right in Armin's face, but Mikasa kicks her down into the wagon
-Jean points his rifle at her but can't bring himself to shoot - she disarms him and is about to kill him
-But Armin pulls out his own pistol and shoots her first
-Later, the squad is hiding out in a shed in the woods
-Armin is out on watch; he's throwing up and crying and Mikasa comforts him
-After changing of guard they're gathered around a fire - Armin can't bring himself to eat
-He questions why he was the first one to pull the trigger, since reasonable he should have been late
-It was because the woman hesitated and Armin didn't
-He muses that she must have been a better person than him, but Levi tells him he should just accept that his hands are dirty now
-And also that he did the right thing and saved Jean's life
-Everyone feels kind of shitty and questions their own choices
What he learned:
-oh

-i killed an actual human being and i did not even hesitate
-+500 guilt and self-loathing
-BUT I guess it was necessary and stuff?
-still feel horrible about it though
